Adam and Liana grew up in the same town and attended the same high school, but it wasn’t until graduation that they became acquainted. They were both in the top one percent of their class and sat next to each other up on the stage. Liana’s parents hired Adam to work at their ice cream shop the summer following graduation. There, Liana and Adam spent many nights scooping ice cream together, chopping nuts, playing cards, and getting to know each other. At the end of the summer Adam headed to Rolla and Liana to Kansas City to begin their undergraduate educations. They continued to communicate and began dating in September of 2003. Their love grew despite the hardships of long distance. After four years of undergrad, Adam decided to pursue a Masters degree in Rolla and Liana a Doctorate of veterinary medicine in Columbia. To celebrate their 4-year anniversary, they both headed back to KC after just one week into their graduate school careers. Adam had planned out the whole evening starting with dinner at Liana’s favorite restaurant, Le Fou Frog. Then, they went for a gondola ride where Adam gave Liana this website. To end the night, Adam stopped to get some champagne to celebrate. He came back with a Mizzou shirt for Liana and told her to use it as a blindfold while he drove to their final destination. Once they got there, Adam led Liana inside and sat her down at a table and told her she could take off the blindfold. She opened her eyes to see the interior of the ice cream shop and she was sat at a dressed up table with their scrapbook Adam and her had been working on earlier that summer placed in the center. Adam said he thought they could look through it. Liana opened the pages one by one, recounting all their memories. When she got to the last page Adam had added a picture of a ring and he got down on one knee and proposed. Liana quickly responded, “yes!” Two years later, Adam graduated with his Masters and began working fulltime for Lithium Technologies. He moved to Columbia to be closer to Liana while she headed into her clinical years. Liana will graduate with a DVM degree in May of 2011. They will marry later that month.
